Ambitious·Designers

The plain version

Privacy

What I collect, why I collect it, who else touches it, how long I keep it, and how to make me delete it. Written to be read before you hand me anything.

Who you are dealing with

Ambitious Designers is run by Shanelle Roberts. One person, not a company with a department. Everything below is a description of what the system actually does, not a description of what would be convenient to claim. If you want to check something in it, ask me and I will tell you.

Contact for anything on this page, including deletion: shanelle@ambitiousdesigners.com.

What I collect, and only when you hand it over

If you take the free 12-Signal Self-Check

Your first name, your email, your twelve yes or no answers, and the grade those answers produce. The answers are about your own work. None of them are about you personally.

If you put your name down for a slot or the waitlist

First name and email. Nothing else.

If you answer the Ambitious Designer OS questions

Your answers and your email. The answers decide what gets built, which is the entire reason the questions exist.

If you buy

I never see your card. Payment runs entirely through Stripe. I get told that a payment succeeded. I do not get your card number, and it never touches my systems.

Then the intake form asks for what I need to score you: your name, your email, the role and industry you are targeting, your portfolio link, your LinkedIn profile or its contents, and your resume as a file or pasted text. If you bought the recorded video, one optional question you want answered in it. That is the product. Without those things there is nothing to score.

If you book a live session

The booking happens on Calendly and they hold your name, email, and the time you picked. The call runs on Zoom and is recorded, which the booking page tells you before you book.

When you just read the site

Analytics only, through Fathom. No cookies, no consent banner, nothing that follows you to another website. It counts pages, referrers, rough country, and a handful of events I set: which price tier got clicked, whether a self-check was finished, and whether a purchase completed. None of it is tied to you as a person, and none of it can be.

Your portfolio password gets treated differently from everything else

Some of you have password-protected work. If you give me that password, it is split off from the rest of your submission before anything is written down.

It is encrypted on its own, in its own store, separate from your name and your email. Your submission record holds a flag saying a password exists. It never holds the password. It is never written to a log, never put in an email, and it is not in the receipt you get or the notification I get. Retrieving it to open your work deletes it in the same action, and if I never retrieve it, it deletes itself 72 hours after you send it. Either way it does not sit around.

If it expires before I get to your report, I will ask you for it again. That is the intended outcome, not a fault.

What I do not do

I do not sell your information. I do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to a data broker. There are no advertising trackers on this site and no third-party cookies. I do not build a profile of you across other websites, because I have nothing installed that could.

I do not show your work to anyone. Your portfolio, your resume, and your LinkedIn are read by me to produce your report and by nobody else. They do not appear in examples, in marketing, on social media, or in a teardown session, unless you specifically ask me to use them and say so in writing.

Who else touches it

Five companies, each doing one job:

Netlify hosts the site and stores submissions and files.
Stripe takes payment. Card details go to them and never to me.
Brevo sends the emails and holds the list your address sits on.
Fathom Analytics counts visits without cookies and without personal data.
Calendly handles live session bookings, and Zoom hosts and records the call itself.

Each has its own privacy policy and its own security. I picked Fathom over Google Analytics specifically so this site would not need a cookie banner or a tracker following you around.

How long I keep things

Portfolio passwords: deleted the moment I use one. Retrieving it to open your work consumes it in the same action. If I never need it, it deletes itself 72 hours after you send it regardless. Nothing to ask for and nothing to remember.

Your submitted materials: 12 months, then deleted. That is the same 12 months named on the checkbox you tick at intake, and it is the number that governs.

Why 12 and not 12 days. Your report includes a free re-score inside 30 days, and a re-score works by measuring new work against your stored baseline. Keeping the baseline is the only way that promise can be kept. The remaining months exist so a re-score, a correction, or a question months later still has something to check against. Ask me sooner and it goes sooner.

Your email on a list: until you unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe and it works immediately.

Anything at all: gone whenever you ask. See below.

Benchmarks, and why it is a checkbox rather than a default

The intake form has an optional box about anonymized benchmarks. If you tick it, your scores can be counted in aggregate figures, the kind that say what a typical designer scores on a given signal.

That means numbers only. No name, no employer, no link, and no excerpt from your work, ever. If you leave the box unticked you get exactly the same report. Nothing about your product changes based on that box, which is why it is off until you turn it on.

Deleting your data

Email me at shanelle@ambitiousdesigners.com from the address you signed up with and say you want your data deleted. I will do it and confirm back to you.

It is one operation across every place your address appears: the waitlist, the self-check, the OS questions, your submission, your uploaded files, your re-scores, your check-in schedule, and any password still in the store. It is not a soft delete and there is no hidden copy kept for analytics.

Two honest limits. Deleting your submission means a re-score can no longer be produced, because the baseline it compares against is gone. And a report already sent to your inbox is yours, in your inbox, and I cannot reach into it.

Your rights

Ask me and I will tell you what I hold on you, correct anything wrong, delete it, or send it to you in a readable file. If you are in the UK or the EU, that is what the GDPR entitles you to. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you a comparable set, including the right to know and the right to delete. I do not sell personal information to anyone, in any state, so there is nothing to opt out of.

No account is required and no form stands in the way. One email does it.

Two smaller things

This is not built for children. It is for working designers with several years of shipped work. Do not send me anything if you are under 16.

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change ever affects what happens to data you have already given me, I will email you rather than quietly updating the page and hoping you check.
